Acupuncture
Acupuncture
is safe, natural, and drug free.
Acupuncture
is an effective form of healthcare that has evolved in
and has originated in China two to four thousand
years ago.
Practitioners of
Chinese medicine have used this noninvasive medical
system to diagnose and help millions of people get well
and stay healthy.
How does it work?
Acupuncture under the umbrella of Chinese medicine seeks
to restore the balance and flow of Qi (pronounced “chee”)
in the body. Qi is the energy that flows
throughout the body. Qi is what animates us, keeps
us healthy and protects us from illness, pain and
disease. The ancient Chinese doctors were able to
map the flow of Qi within the body through avenues
called channels or meridians. This Qi is accessed
and regulated by painlessly inserting needles into
various points along the meridians.
A licensed
acupuncturist will use a diagnostic system that has been
passed down from teacher to student. It includes
taking a full health history, questioning the patient
regarding symptoms, health and lifestyle. Your
acupuncturist may also check your pulses, look at your
tongue and conduct a physical exam. An assessment
based on this information will be made within the
parameters of Chinese medical knowledge and your
individualized diagnosis of where Qi has become
blocked or is out of balance will be made.
After this interview
process you will receive an acupuncture treatment
designed specifically for you. Visits with your
acupuncturist may last from 30 to 60 minutes. The
initial appointment can last up to 90 minutes.
